Voice chat not connecting

I'm trying to vc via a steam group chat but when i try to join a voice chat im stuck on "Connecting..." this has never happened to me. What do i do???

My friend and I have struck the same issue. When I click the Voice Chat it rings for about a second then hangs itself up, and my friend never receives my call request, same from him to me.
Both of us have tried restarting steam, restarting our PCs, and doing microphone checks. I don't understand the stuff regarding Ports, but I also haven't changed any settings since our last call yesterday so I can't see why the ports would have changed. No firewall or anti-virus software changes between now and our last successful call either.
I'm guessing/hoping this is a steam server issue that will be resolved soon?

its lasting 4-5 seconds now , the other person getting called still cant see the call request

Hello Community, same issue for me. It started some days ago, no more. I was sure it was a problem with my router, but now I understand it's not and it didn't solve restarting my PC, since I have the same problem for some days. Basically, when I try to start a voice chat, it automatically stops the call after a second. No way, no solution so far (I'm in Italy)

Since 2 days, voice chat is not connecting at all for me as well. When i initiate it, it almost disconnect right away. Nothing changed in my hardware and software, no new firewall, no new antivirus, all the right ports are opened (checked with my ISP). Reinstalled steam 2 times , same problem.

same issue for me. But I can call my friend 3 hours ago... Nothing change at me and my friend.

So it's pretty clear that it's an issue affecting Steam in general in this period. At least I don't have to get crazy by playing with my router or mi PC. Anyway, how can we get an official feedback from Steam? I've no idea.

I also had this voice chat connecting issue (duh, I wouldn't be here if I hadn't). Steam support was not helpful at all (they replied to my question with a standard email suggesting I should check ports and firewalls and anti virus settings, they even suggested I should have my hardware checked at a local specialist - would you believe that?).
So, I tried some things myself and the one thing that fixed the issue on my computer is this:

I opened the steam chat window and clicked the voice chat request button (right hand side on the bottom, the mic icon), then, for a brief moment, three buttons appear: a headset icon, a mic icon and an exit icon, all green. I clicked the exit button (translated from Dutch it says: leave the voice chat channel) and after that I could connect with my girlfriend's computer.

Btw, my girlfriend had the same issue so she did exactly as I described above (she did that several times) and the problem on her computer was fixed too.

I really hope it works for you guys as well.
