The State of things at valve.
Valve have made 19 Billion US dollars from selling steam games that have never been played, which is more than the gross national product of some countries. Valve have made about $15 million per year since 2016 Yet with all this money in 2021 it was reported valve only had 79 people working on the Steam Client.

Given the state of the steam client beta right now this is beyond frustrating - spend some of that money and hire some people - How can more jobs be anything but a good thing?

Revenue doesn't equal profit; most of the money they earn gets eaten up by taxes, salaries/wages, utilities, security, maintenance, outsourcing, marketing, research & development, etc. So for all we know, out of the 19 billion dollars that Valve made, they're probably only profiting from 9 billion of that.

Its been a while since ive seen a forum guy who capitalises every word heh. Takes me back.

I would prefer if valve does not go on some hiring spree just because they can afford it. Thats how company cultures get diluted to complete indistinctiveness and end up being run by 30yo MBAs who live life quarter by quarter. And while valve has its problems executing sometimes, theyre still completely unique in the industry in the best way as they are.
