Game Recording needs higher quality
24mbps isn't appropriate for higher resolutions, 3440*1440 for example.

Need like 50mbps.

Since so far it just uses 1080p60 (whether it's set to use 1.5Mbps or 24), it would currently just go to waste.

I use triple monitor setup with surround. The recording brought me back to '80s.

it need to support H265 or AV1 t(or both) those file would be much higher quality at 12 and 25mbits than AVC h264

Maybe steam for saving record performance can use after-record some built-in upscale from 1080 to 1440p or 4k.Today upscales have a nice results.:Darling:
I was hoping steam recording would atleast make the jump to 144fps since Nvidia apparently refuses to. I'll bet they add this stuff in the future on release though.

Max will be 120, 144 is very rare case for video records.

ideally we would get variable framerate encoding

IF you don't like it just use another program

Such a reply isn't very forthcoming. Please keep your replies helpful and generative towards the thread topic.

Dr. Hoppity, I have a 5120x1440 screen at home and I would love higher quality. Definitely atleast 50mbps with variable refresh rate encoding too.

But it's true

Thanks for the awards

I think it depens if your gpu is encoding to native 4k or if your gpu upscales upto 4k to accomodate for the monitor you've purchased, at least from my understanding of how an encoding load works.
For example, I keep a max br of 50 however through some encoding optimizations I can run bitrate load tests that can effectively keep the stream uploading to the fraction of graphical processing power; part of this is because I run native with now up/downscaling so my gpu isn't also doing all that; plus the plugin I use in particular runs under my streaming software meaning it processes the video again, which because it enters and exits that program at native resolution, it is handled at an upload level already processed to encode.

So what I'm saying here is that perhaps the resolution for this is to look at how you can ensure your video will encode properly, at 24mb.

Agreed! +1

50 would be perfect.
