mac steam client beta updates

Hello,
I wanted to try the beta client (I was using it on my previous steam on Linux), but this time on macOS.
After the new install, and selecting the steam beta test, steam suggested reopening the windows after the update. However steam is not working anymore, I have the following issues that steam needs to be online to update, and basically that the updates failed. I tried several time to reinstall steam, with different internet connection, and I still have the same error now. Do not know what to do :(
