Astro C40 TR Controller has a xbox driver but is not handled like a xbox controller since action layer introduction of steam deck
I have a Astro C40 TR Controller and I can't for the love of god get button icons to show up when trying to build or use a controller layout via steam with it.

I have Xbox Extended Support Driver installed, tried to enable/disable Playstation Controller Support/ Steam input for Xbox controllers / generic controllers but to no avail.

In the steam menu I have Playstation icons and basically the astro40 is recognized and works, but within the rather new controller configuration from steam deck (with action layers) I never see any button icons.

the controller is in itself functional (mind not the touchpad as that would apparently only work with the controller being identified as PS4 in windows which would bring some other complications with itself and the need to manipulate registry entries), as the layout from the screenshot was created with the former controller layout configurator (I tested other layouts official ones and from other ppl to see if there is a transmitting problem from the former to newer model but that's not the case). In For Honor itself I don't get icons shown in the menu or in the game. However there is a certain exception which is when exiting the game the popup window would show then xbox layout buttons. So it is somewhat mixed. Btw before steam introduced steam deck action layers as successor to the controller layout configurator the astro c40 had usually been clearly identified as an xbox controller (visible in the controller shape that would be used for tests and editing the layout - which is now in the appearance of a ps4 controller)

I looked into steam files in order to find any entries that would allow me to define a certain prefered button layout. I guess since the controller is not fully recognized as a xbox controller in Steam there might be the issue and I was wondering if I could use the data I find in an xbox controller layout file to fill the blanks. But yet no success.
