Shopping Cart and Private Games Feedback / Bugs

Starting today, users who have opted into the Steam Client Beta will see a new version of the shopping cart when checking out on the Steam Store. These users will also be able to mark games in their library as private. You can read more about this update here.

We'd love to hear your feedback on these features and learn about any issues you may have encountered while using them. If you are reporting a bug, please remember to let us know where you were (web browser / mobile / Steam Client) in addition to what happened.

Hello there!

I think there might be a visibility issue about unreleased games. You can now see unreleased games' total time on user profiles (see Manufactur'inc on mine) and through API.

It wasn't a thing a week ago I believe.

It doesn't bother me, but I report the bug since it might for some other peeps !

In the new shopping cart the text can overflow and overlap if it gets too long, like in here:

I would like you to revisit the game gifting in general and to allow it to work across regions. One solution would be paying whatever price is higher when regions are different to avoid region abuse.

Bug: the recommended for you banners aren't sized correctly (they also overlap the sidebar with continue checkout button).

when removing items from cart (and removing all items)
Edit: Seems like adding to cart also doesn't clear cache? I don't see items as in-cart when searching.

Using Steam Beta client version 1702667398 on Linux MInt 21.2 I'm getting the new Shopping Cart however the discount percentages are displayed wrong during checkout. In this screenshot it shows as 1% when it is really 50%. Otherwise the purchase process went fine and the proper discount was applied.

On windows 10 and the shopping cart is displaying the price reduction as 1% instead of the correct discount amount despite the games being the correct price.

Would it be possible to allow adding items from the wishlist without navigating to cart? If this is possible already, I am unsure how to go about it, but this is primarily how I shop major sales is through my wishlist.

You took away the In Cart visualization which seems like a step back. Also annoyed you can't earn trading cards on private games. WAYYY step back. Also a lot of times the store tab (where it shows how many things you have in the cart) disappears. I have to add something to the cart to get back to it.

I'm not enlisted to Steam Beta, but setting game private needs batch processing. To make it easier to set multiple games in your library.

Suggestion:

From game library you can select multiple games with Ctrl + Left Mouse click, or Shift + Left Mouse click (just like folders in Windows).

With multiple games selected this way, user can just click with Right Mouse Button and select in right mouse button menu: Manage -> 'Make selected games Private'

Hey, Great to see the Private Games feature!

I have however run into an issue with this.

Since the toggle is in the properties of a game in your library, it's not
possible intuitive to mark refunded games as private so they will show up in the activity feed and in the Year In Review feed despite me no longer owning them.

Edit: Ok so it's possible after all by adding the refunded game to cart as a private game it's history becomes private too.

More detailed / specific privacy options for our profiles would be much appreciated going forward, the current options are very much "all or nothing" and it would be great to control specific aspects of your profile and also to perhaps make something viewable to certain friends on your list.

i added a game and marked it a private but when i played it for the first time it showed me playing it on steam and its now on my steam profile as recently played

I lost my shopping cart for a bit, I thought it emptied. I re-added an item to my shopping cart and it notified me that my shopping cart already had the item in it. I sorted that out and checked out my items.

Not sure if it's a bug, but you can't mark non-steam games as private.

Similar thing happened here, no cart indicator at store home, happened while I was downloading a game, so stability of cart interface seems to be tied to latency.
