"Start minimized" seems to be entirely gone in the GUI refresh?

Not fixed or its a "feature" to promote the store. There has been countless threads about this, they remain silent.

I bought a game I shouldnt be bothered with the store, steam should start minimized when starting from a game link.

Agreed! It's annoying because I have to manually minimize the client three times before it actually minimizes lol

Till it is fixed I disabled autostart steam.
So no ads for new games, no hints for discounts.
Effect = I buy less steam games.
If it is less priority for valve, it's their loss.

Its not just about startup aswell, if you dont have it starting up with windows as soon you launch a Steam game from a desktop icon the store opens in focus

That doesn't make any sense, if people are jumping into the beta for the new client obviously they are already invested in the new client. It would make sense that the first startup would not minimize by default, but you should totally be able to change it asap (just like you are defaulted to the store tab on the client but you can set it to your library no prob)
