Add ability to pin Chat windows overlaid in-game just like notes

Unless I missed it, I wasn't able to pin a Chat window. Ideally I'd like to pin them just like notes with separate options for background and text opacity. This is something you can do with Discord overlay and is very useful in games with no in-game chat when someone can't use their mic or speak for some reason. But sometimes Discord overlay doesn't work correctly in some games.

Yes this, with ability to write to that chat too without opening overlay.

Yep, I visited this forum to suggest exactly this. If a friend watches your stream or simply chats with you while you are playing, it's useful to see new messages from them without pausing the game and opening the overlay. Chatting while playing seems a far more realistic use case than watching a movie in the web browser (this use case was mentioned in the news about this new UI).

I tried doing it via the web browser that can be pinned, but it doesn't work because chat opens in a separate window.

Note: there were another few threads suggesting to add this feature.

P.S. Thanks to the OP for mentioning that Discord can do this, I didn't know. I will just use Discord if Steam doesn't add this.

Yea, you just enable the Discord overlay and check in the settings for the toggle overlay lock hotkey. You press that then can pin chat windows and such and set the overlay opacity.

yessss definitely need this especially if the functionality is built with notes already. Would b cool to b able to pin chats/gcs/vcs
