[Bug] Steam Connect URLs non-functional

When using a Steam Connect URL, it does not connect you to the server or launch the game.

ie. Steam://Connect/IP:PORT
ie. Sending a steam connect argument to steam.exe

Having this same issue. Started a few days ago.

Was able to circumvent by, in my steam browser, going to View -> Game Servers -> Favorites and adding the links to the Game Server Favorites List, without the steam://connect/ prefix.

I already have the servers I'm trying to connect to in that list, so no dice for me. Glad you got a work around, only thing that works for me is reverting off the beta branch.

Very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I am not very skilled with software issues, so I'm not sure what else you could try, if the workaround isn't working for you. Hopefully they patch this issue out soon, so we can use the beta branch without all this trouble.

No worries, I wasn't expecting you to find a workaround that works, its just unfortunate. Going off beta for now works as the fix, hopefully they fix it before they push to main branch.

i as well am having no luck with steam://connect/ip:port browser protocol it was as well working http://riddleb0x.rf.gd/drn0/motdpage.php no that long ago and has suddenly stopped. valve... please dont make me go get 3kliksphilip

i just ripped into the game via steam://connect/ and the GUI looked revamped it was fast so i couldnt catch it definitely looks like its working again ill switch servers in a bit to reconfirm it but they may have fixed this in the update

I'm getting a failure "app id specified by server is invalid" now, seems like maybe the developers have to do something on their end?

same error here, since today (2023-09-12). link like this (steam://connect/23.88.7.42:17000) was working yesterday and now its display the same error message "unable to connect so server, app id specified by server is invalid"

Same error here. Tested with ARK, Conan Exiles, 7DaysToDie, on multiple clients connecting to my own and other servers.

Same problem, steam Connect urls don't work. Haven't worked for almost a week now for me.

I get the same error whether or not the server in question is *actually running*!

EDIT: friend using non-Beta client confirms same error.

I'm using non-beta, same issue.
On TF2.

It likely got pushed to main branch without fixing the issue. Hopefully this gets noticed soon.
