Chat windows missing minimize / maximize, also related bugs.

Those buttons still exist for the library, and most windows do have the minimize button still, so why do I now need to use the taskbar to minimize chat windows?

Furthermore, if a chat window is minimized and the person sends me a message, a duplicate chat window opens and forcefully alt-tabs me out of the game I'm playing.

Worse yet, if a game is running (except windowed), I can't open chat windows at all. They close immediately, even if the game is no longer running. If I try to open a chat window while using the in-game overlay, it alt-tabs me out just to show me how the chat window fails to stay open. At least exiting and restarting Steam fixes this until the next time I dare reproduce this bug.

Yes i'm on a 4k 65inch everything is unplayable with friends if any message is sent I get sent straight to desktop and I have a lock on my keyboard preventing this how did this happen....

And your windows scaling? Maybe at 100% it might be ok? Not the first time Steam has had major issues with windows scaling, which to be fair on Valve, can also be a bit messy at times.

I don’t think scaling effects anything my friend had same issue when I got it on a 1080p monitor think this is a major bug.

Yep, just got on my computer, and sure enough, chat dock mode is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in several ways. It already had issues for years where it would randomly forget I want it docked despite the toggle being on, but now chats straight up don't open in dock mode.

An update just reconnected the friends list and I didn't even need to reboot Steam.

So the window buttons are back. Will see if any bugs persist.

I can confirm, signing out of steam friends and signing back in brought the buttons back for me as well.

ooh wow i did see steam loosing connection but had no idea a hot fix was silently being pushed and i too see the minimise and maximise buttons are back.

fixing stuff on the fly like that is dodgy af imo well maybe just unorthodox but geesh

no wonder the steam experience feels so "random"

Yep, i too have one duplicated chat window with multiple duplicated tabs , opened from favorited chatrooms as well as from non-categorized group chats with messages waiting to be read.

I do have min/max buttons for both windows.

Friends&Chat at the bottom right corner activates the initial (docked) window.

Not tested in-game.

I can confirm right now, at least for me, that the minimize and maximize button is back.
However, friend list chat docking is still broken, chat windows won't open also.
Valve, please fix this.

Joining chat from a group page opens chat in the initial (docked) window for me, as intended.

I'm not using the beta version of the Steam Cient but having issues with Steam Chat since a few hours ago.

Chat windows/tabs do not open unless the dock option is turned off.

I'm starting to understand the double chat windows. It's the Steam overlay in-game. It doesn't recognize if a chat window is already open via the app itself, so it opens another.

happened to me as well, the chat window keep popping up instead of new tab on the dock, even if I dragged it manually the chat tab won't close unless I close the entire friend list menu, and I'm not even using the beta version
