Some thoughts / bug reports on the new BPM now that it's "released"
So I've used the new BPM for a couple of games now and I thought that I should share the thoughts I've had.

Let's start with the bugs first:

1. The BPM's overlay in the current release/beta doesn't seem to initiate properly when ran on a TV/monitor with >100% DPI scaling. This results in all Steam notifications to appear in the middle of the screen instead of its corner. Thankfully this is easily fixable by opening the BPM overlay - after which it recognizes that its running on a non-100% DPI display and rescale itself leading to notifications moving to a proper position. Someone should probably fix that.

2. (As a result of #1?) The lists in new BPM's overlay seem cut at the bottom for no apparent reason. Like the list of unlocked achievements - it just cuts at the bottom despite there being enough room there for showing at least a couple more achievement entries.

Now just some random thoughts on the new BPM navigation.

A. I was stumbled at first trying to find the list of all games I have. Putting the main navigation menu on the controller's "system" button is not a good idea. This menu should be accessible from the "menu" button while the "system" one should be reserved for things like exiting the BPM/Steam/Entering Settings/Turning the system off. As of right now the "menu" button opens currently selected game's properties but this can be moved to something else - there are many buttons suitable for the task.

B. As an extension to this - everything which is accessible through the main menu should also be accessible from links/buttons/some controls on the Home screen. So for example I have a panel with my "recent games" - somewhere on this panel must be a way to go into my full library. Settings, store, downloads, media - all this should be present on the Home screen in some way which will allow users to go into these sections from Home without opening the main menu.

C. The "back" button works in a way which a user doesn't expect as it doesn't work like this in any other s/w with such a button/gesture which I know of - it continually does every step you've performed so far in reverse. A user expectation here for the back button is to move them from the inside of the navigational hierarchy to its top, not perform "backwards" movement of the user in full (because I don't want to go back _inside_ something what I've done already when I press the "back" button, I want to go back to a higher level of navigational hierarchy).

D. Mouse+keyboard BPM navigation is just painful at the moment but that's not a high priority issue. Still the way how ESC works similarly to "back" button above is just bizarre. Also please remove all dead space around all buttons - clicking them with mouse should be a gesture type action not an exercise in pixel precision. The whole left bottom corner should be clickable (opening the main menu) and the A/B buttons on the right bottom should be big clickable rectangles filling the entirety of the black "taskbar" they sit on, not invisible small black buttons on black background.

E. Screens (panels?) seem to remember the state in which you went away from them to a different screen. So for example if I have chosen library and some collection inside it then moved to the main screen, did there something and then has went into the library again - I will see the collection I've chosen instead of seeing the top of library screen. This is highly controversial as not only this creates issues with users getting a different result when clicking the same section of the main menu but also creates navigational problems where it's not always clear to the user how to get from the "remembered" state of a screen to a "default" one.

Anyway just some thoughts which I had to share as they do give me pains in using the new BPM.
