The only controller I have ever used is this one.
I have tried deleting any steam config file I found in the steam folder (config.vdf SDL_GamepadBind) as well as deleting every steam file except steam.exe thus forcing steam to update all saved controller configs.
Nothing seems to work. Always the same thing happens.
Do you get same issue when using usb cable for controller connection?
Confirms steam is having trouble finding configs
You can use steam config config.vdf to find the older known good config.
But i do not know how to tell steam to load that instaed, just proves controller is not working like it used to.
How or why Steam is not loading controller layouts from config file i cant explain or rationalise. controller.txt confirms Steam never looks there.
If you do not intend using steam for making custom game configs you could try just hiding your controller from steam in controller settings. After clicking your controller in controller settings you should see button at bottom of screen to "hide" that controller. You may need to make sure steam input is disabled for game to which you do from library game properties controller
Try using windows Game Controller Settings aka joy.cpl to make sure your controller works there. Exit steam before you do that. You need to install ds4windows if it doesnt work at all.
When controller works there like expected just hiding it in steam should just make it work like manufacturer intended in steam games. Doing this means you will need other controller or m + kb to navigate steam and launch game.
It sounds like an issue on the steam client side if the update broke something.
Wouldn't surprise me, they recently released an update that disables not only the PS5 controller trackpad in the steam deck ui, but also the Steam controller attached on the Deck and no way to revert it
That's a complete trackpad ban in the UI to solve a problem they had elsewhere.
I still have trouble digesting this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ update that pisses me off more than anything, especially after buying 2 PS5 controllers
- Disabled kernel DualShock 4 and DualSense trackpad → mouse emulation when Steam is running
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1675200/view/3646258449514531838?l=englishAm sure nobody will be more frustrated than Valve devs though. Steam log controller.txt confirms there are server side issues regarding uploaded controller layouts fro custom layouts. These can fix bad controller mapping but steam cant find server so loads failsafe configs from local install.
Good finding man
i should have just suggested to Paparas to check Steam log controller.txt and see what it says for their Nacon controller.
I am reposting the controller.txt logs. Do you see anything that maybe can help?

Unfortunately the Nacon controller cannot connect without the dongle so connecting it with a cable is useless.
