Steam Beta Build has just removed the blue rectangles that showed what steam review % a game has and is now instead using subcategories to separate games based on their steam review score
Why? Just why for the love of all that is holy, Gabe? Why change this? It looked so great seeing the steam review rating for my games in that little blue rectangle. But now, it's just ugly. It only separates games by categories, much like the sorting by Metacritic score does, and it looks awful. I was so happy when we got the option to sort by steam reviews and it didn't segregate my library, but just put a little blue bar on the bottom with the % score.

This is currently just in the beta build, but if they stick with it, the main build will have the same change soon. And I hate when they do something like this and don't add it in the patch notes. Please, revert this change. The old one looks much better and doesn't waste space like those sort options that have their own categories.

I know this is perhaps just a stupid thing to be upset about, but what can I say, I really liked how it looked and never changed it ever since they first introduced it. It's compact, gives all the necessary information, looks clean and doesn't cause my library to have unnecessary free space because there aren't enough games with a certain steam review % to fill that category.

I agree, they're terrible at putting all of the changes in the patch notes.

This seems like a bug to me, I don't see why they would intentionally remove this feature

Its not removed, you can still sort by Steam Review score, but now it looks different. I see no reason why they did this. Its like that sort by Metacritic score now. The old one looked compact and didnt waste any space with creating in sort categories.

To be fair those review % numbers are meaningless given the new censorship policy of hiding negative reviews.

Many of those numbers are inflated and cherrypicked, so not much of a loss to be honest. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am speaking entirely from an aesthetic point of view. And sorting by Metacritic score renders half of my library without one for some reason. Im not really sure what censorship policy you are referring to, but if it's review bombing, I have only seen this effect Borderlands 2 when it was review bombed because Borderlands 3 was an Epic timed exclusive. When negative reviews were done because of the problems that the game had, like GTA IV and modding (or was it V, I'm not 100% sure) the reviews weren't filtered out, as those were legit complaints and had something to do with the game.

Please leave percents where they are, it's much more helpful and compact. Also it makes more sense in the shelf on "Home" page.

Exactly, I see no reason why they want to do it the same as other sort options. Every other sort option has its own sorting categories that just waste space. I can see what game is above 90 Metacritic score, i dont need a separete category showing me that when i sort by that option. Same for file size. Just put the small rectangle with the info at the bottom of the game cover.

what are you talking about? you can exclude periods of bad review activity / review bombing from the user end if that's what you're referring to, negative reviews are not being censored in any real capacity. have a look at battlefield 2042 for instance
