Weird file on desktop
As the title suggests, I found a file named update_hosts_cached.vdf on my desktop after closing dota 2. My concern is, is this a steam thing or a malware? because in the file there was a cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com and cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com. And no, I didn't open anything else after turning on the computer except for discord, steam, and dota 2.

This is related to Steam, and i think it has to do with its updates.

The CDN (content delivery network) Akami and Cloudflare are utilized by Steam.

It is not malicious in any way, but i don't exactly know why it's on your desktop.

It popped up on my desktop, sort of. It's in my video section on my file explorer for some reason.

Curious, but usually this would be written to an internal Steam directory or something.

Inspecting it in a text editor will also reveal more context for it.
