After I assigned the action I was able to take ingame-screenshots via the share button.
Enabling the option --> Restarting --> Getting message that driver was successfully installed --> Restart
Still is shown as a XBox One Controller and does not allow me to use the Share button.
Additionally, i can not bind it to anything as the option does not exist at all. Steam sees and identifies it as a XBox One Controller and does not recognize the button exists on my controller.
No custom profile exists as i never created one for the XBox controller, only for my Steam controller.
Firmware of the controller is 5.5.2641.0 and according to the Xbox Accessory app up to date.
The controller is connected with an USB cable and is an original XBox Series X controller from Microsoft, not a third party knock off.
I use Windows 10 Pro 20H2 Build 19042.685, which too is up to date.

It was also coming up with the Windows game overlay when I press the Xbox Home button but I managed to disable that in the PC settings and plugging it into USB seemed to get it working with Steam overlay when in Big Picture. I think it's a bug cos it's done all this before.
EDIT: This video seemed to get mine to work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuZqYvimWS8
running latest firmware on controller and latest steam beta, windows 10 etc.
this is beyond frustrating and now its just like - wot the ♥♥♥♥ - at one point it did actually work but then at some point stopped..
Steam keeps insisting its an xbox one controller and not a series one.
the really annoying part is there is no help section for steam input in valve's own steam support page.
Have only tested with 8BitDo in Xinput mode using BT. Using usb cable makes steam see an xbox 360 controller so share button is never detected. share = star button 8BitDo
