New game properties dialog - Where is the DLC tab ?
Hi, we got a new game properties dialog with the latest beta (December 9th). I notice that the DLC tab has disappeared. How can we select now the DLCs we want to install for a game ?

Usually you want to have every DLC installed of course. But sometimes, for particular games, you need to manage them. For example, every ARK: Survival Evolved DLC is in fact a different map. You usually install only the maps you play on, especially since these maps take a huge place on your SSD / HDD.

I guess you can still go on every DLC store page, and choose there to install or uninstall it. But the DLC tab in the old game properties was very handy to see at a glance the DLCs and to manage them.

Go to the games library page, scroll down the right side until you get to the DLC section and click "Manage My X DLC."

Damn, the new dialog is awful!

Misaligned and pointlessly large text, scrolling issues, missing features, and at then end of that you can't even change all the settings using that menu and it has to open a different interface.

My controllers tab [imgur.com] in settings.

Another DLC related UI issue: If you are using 1080p screen with 150% scaling (as I do on my TV) DLC window has 2 scrollbars - one for the DLC list, one for the window (buttons on bottom are not visible until window is scrolled)

150% was always an issue with the new UI. 125% was the sweet spot.

But good to know in case other users ask about it.

Damn, that's unintuitive. Thanks for pointing out how to do that!

If you open a support ticket, that windows screen scaling isn´t working properly for steam, you get answer, that Valve does NOT recommend to use screen scaling at all. They just don´t offer any features to configure fontsizes to a users needs. Instead they move the UI more and more into some kind of mobile-ish style. I don´t know, if it´s just a rumour, but i read in a gaming magazine, that steam wants to be used with those new X-Box consoles, so maybe they wanna "prepare" the UI to the needs of "just clumsy gamecontroller input available" users?

Also feel free to enter your input in this pinned "UI problems" thread in here, where a long time discussion about UI issues in continued. The more voices we have in there, too, the better! Be welcome to join in too!

The new UI was in the works for years. The Steam UI is now built off Electron and the web browser built into Steam is based off Chromium. Twitch uses it, Discord uses it, itch.io uses it just to name a few.

Man, for people working on this for years you would think that they would have hired at least one person who knew you can scale fonts using CSS. I've seen better scaling management on sites designed for IE11. :(

As mentioned, i´m not sure, if it´s just a rumour. So adding the source wouldn´t help.
It´s also some months ago, so i really don´t remember the source, too.
For sure, it was an german speaking magazine, so adding this as source would also be hardly useful for most readers in here.

And finally, a client for managing games is likely to have lots of other or additional needs than a client for some streaming/chatting purposes, so MANY people are unhappy with this road, the new UI seems to be going.

If YOU like it, it´s perfectly ok. You are not alone.
But please also accept the fact, that there are a lot of users, who do NOT like the new UI.

This is REALLY unintuitive. I mean, would it be so hard to add the tab back, right under or above betas?
