Microphone is distorted
Love the beta so far! One issue I've come across is during voice chat, my microphone sounds distorted, crackly, like a robot, etc. I did a little testing and this is only happening when using voice chat via the Steam client; the issue is not present if I am using voice in Steam Chat via a Google Chrome browser window. This does not seem to be affecting my friends who sound just fine during voice chat. I have no similar issues with Discord.

I have a HyperX Cloud headset connected via 3.5mm to a Xonar DX sound card.

What sound cards to each of you have, and are your headsets also connected via an analog input to the soundcard (vs usb headsets that provide their own sound device)? OP has Xonar DX, what about the rest of you? We are trying to reproduce these issues but haven't been able to, and we are trying to understand if a certain sound card or sound card chipset is causing the issue. We might need to get the right card to reproduce and debug.

Hi I'm having the same problem here with the 'Robot' voice when in voice chat with my mates while playing PUBG.....but only since the update.

It's happening around every 10-15mins or so. It's easy to fix, I just disconnect the USB headset from the USB port, wait 10 sec & put it back in, then disconnect the chat session before reconnecting & it's fixed. I'm using the onboard sound from my Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard. I've updated to the latest audio drivers for this motherboard from the Asus website.

I've tried moving the USB connected headphones to 3 different USB ports, I've reinstalled Steam & I even went & purchaed a new set of Logitech G933 headphones, I tried using the wireless feature on the new headset, but the problem remains.

None of my 3 other mates have this issue. I'm running the same headset as at least one of them with the same set of Microphone drivers from Microsoft.

I would love to get a fix for this frustrating issue :)

We think today's beta update addresses some remaining mic static/noise issues. Specifically for users with Xonar sound cards it should help. It's not limited to just those users, but that's one audio chipset/driver that we did reproduce issues with and believe we've fixed as of today's update. The same fix should help some others as well. Let us know if things have improved for any of you.

Yes, I can confirm that I am no longer distorted using the Steam Client. Thank you so much!
