I would like an option to set both types from the "Manage" menu as well as an option to add custom background art on the game's page.
But yeah, it would be cool if we could have more customization options like for a banner in the game's view. For non-Steam games and mods that view looks very empty (old version at least had some info telling why there wasn't much there)
Edit: No. I am actually correct. There are 2 types of custom art that can be assigned to games. The first is the cover/boxart. This can be accessed by right clicking the title in the library and selecting custom art.
The 2nd custom art is the horizontal "Grid" view that shows when it's the most recent game played under "Recent Games" OR by hovering your mouse over the cover/box art. This piece can only be changed when it's showing the horizontal art on the last played game on the "Recent Games" shelf.
This horizontal art can also be manually set by adding the art to steam/userdata/user/config/grid and finding the title's number and adding the art while removing the trailing "p" (for poster I assume). Obviously this is laborious and doing it from the GUI is easier to manage.
