[Fixed] Chat scrolling issue

Since the latest update, each time I switch chats they appear wrongly scrolled slightly up. I'm surprised no one noticed it.

Whenever I receive a chat message since yesterday's update, the text won't automatically scroll down anymore, and I'm left with a constant 'scroll to bottom' button that never goes away. The new message notification sticks around for way longer than it should as well, and clicking on 'unread messages' in the message box automatically just opens up every single chat I've had open at any point during the day regardless of new messages or not. And it also doesn't mark the messages as read properly, either. How do I fix this, or am I stuck waiting for another update?

Yeah i'm experiencing this as well, just noticed it today after I got on, when switching chat that chat is scrolled up and it sometimes varies with how far up it scrolled but its all equally annoying.

As I could recently see, almost everyone's tempted to stop using it (176 people out of 200).

I want to clarify one thing: the main source of these issues is not Valve, it's CEF (Chromium Engine Framework).

CEF is a Framework built for applications and games that allows to use Chromium's Engine features (basically the engine used by Chrome and Chromium web browsers). The new Steam Chat is built on HTML and JavaScript code ran by CEF.

All the crashes, black screens and bugs are 90% caused by CEF itself, and all programmers know how messy CEF is, I don't even have to explain. CEF has also issues with Hardware Acceleration with some GPUs, and this is mostly causing the black screen/chats not opening issues many people are experiencing.

While CEF has recently implemented "proper" HW acceleration and HW decoding, Firefox and all other browsers (including Internet Explorer) supported it since ~2009.

Watch as valve rewrite all of steam into the same technology and don't fix any issues lol

This, i use ctrl+tab a lot and thought it was just me. Please fix this, it didn't happen before.

Same issue. It's horribly annoying and adds frustration to an already slow program. Whoever came up with this is a fool and a bad programmer. If something works fine, don't fix it.

I noticed since day one. That has never been fixed, ever. Since this silly update, there's nothing but bugs and whatever I post in the discussions doesn't get any replies as if I was the only one experiencing those things. I feel like it's pointless to report those things. Everything falls on deaf ears. I got the same issue and also a similar issue where instead it's a permanent [scroll to bottom] and with a permanent new notification even though I did read the entire chat.
