Chat messages are causing lag in game

When someone sends me a message or a game invite while i'm ingame i'm getting a lot of lag.
When i play csgo and someone sends me a message the lag is extremely big somethimes it's fixed when i read the message but mostly of the times the lage stays and is the game nearly unplayable.

bump. i get slightly noticeable stuttering after getting a chat message, and the only way to get rid of it is closing the window.

I haven't been playing any STEAM games yet with the new chat design ON, but it caused lags whenever I got messages in the new design when I was playing WOW and even just web browsing on another screen. Tiny, tiny lags, but I can notice them very well...

bump, i get pretty heavy stutter in almost all of my games after a chat message, and the only way of getting rid of it is opening the chat message

That rolling text on new chat messages keeps lagging on my pc too...
(and no, it's not the DELAY the messages have there because of that stupid text rolling. It makes GAMES and my browser LAG)

Bump. I have no problem running 99% of games at top graphics, but if someone messages me I get freezes hitches and lag. I've just had a game lag so hard I disconnected, the loading screen froze and the game crashed because I got a steam message.

The ONE thing steam chat should be designed around is NOT hindering games, and the lag that this crappy, rushed update to the chat has brought is atrocious.

likewise, i7-2600 CPU, 32GB, Win10 Pro 64bit. Whenever i get txt msg from someone, my game stutters alot. Only way to get rid of it is to close the chat window that appeared in the overlay. I have notifications turned off.

This happens to me in some game.
I've resorted to disabling the steam overlay for them.

I solved the problem. Not really. Just disable steam overlay. Then use the steam window for all your steam stuff. You can invite your friends to games too. I do this in RL but it glitches a lot and doesn't work. Maybe you'll ge lucky.

I have this everytime someone sends a message and I have to restart my pc to get rid of it (which sometimes doesn't even work). I think it might have something to do with my 2nd monitor being only 60hz but it feels soooo ♥♥♥♥ when I receive this constant 3fps feeling.

after the last update it forced the new design on my steam launcher even though I have had added the -nofriendsui tag!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I have the same problem. But my friend told me that when I switch form Fullscreen Windowed to Fullscreen (we tested it in CSGO and it worked) that this problem disapears.
But I would like to stay on Fullscreen Windowed, if anyone had a better solution plz answer.
