Invisible mode doesn't work

If we choose to operate in invisible mode, we are signalling we wish to be invisible to other users. When we start a game however, we're immediately forced out of invisible mode.
Which negates the entire purpose of having it.

In practice we cannot play games without always being online and visible and open to chat with everyone, unless we completely put Steam in offline mode... but then we can't play any games with online requirements, and it's an extra step that shouldn't and has never been required before.

Why have an invisible mode at all if you're not actually going to allow users to be invisible?

Similar problem here. My steam client will say I'm invisible but my friends tell me that I am online, even when not ingame. The entire feature is broken at the moment.

That's still a problem. I'm switching back to the stable channel for now.

Also, when you restart Steam, it shows you as online, even though it still shows you that you're invisible. This means that, even if you remember to reset it each time, there's always a short period where you show online.

I don't know why this isn't in the known issues; it's been mentioned enough times? I'm following pix0wl, back to stable.

Really Valve? You just forced the beta to the stable channel for all and this major bug is still in it?

I've found a start parameter which brings back the old Steam friends list.
Just add " -nofriendsui" to your Steam shortcut.
