Steam Beta Library Freeze

Happened multiple times now. Im on Linux
I did these things, idk how each of these actions contribute to the freeze:

1. Closed game (sometimes normally, sometimes Alt F4, happens either way)
2. Clicked through the tabs at the top
3. Clicked back on Library

This made the library screen freeze, until now only a restart of complete steam fixed it.
I can still click on games, and seem to be able to start them, but the image is freezed (needs luck to find the play button)

I think I have the same problem. One way that I consistently reproduce the problem is that I open news item from the library home view. Earlier I had trouble also outside the library, like store frontpage or wishlist wouldn't display at all (they might have loaded, but it's hard to know for sure).

Same problem here, but I've found no reliable way to make it happen, it would happen really quickly and it renders the library unusable on Linux.

Same problem here. Sometimes it'll freeze up and just be really really slow too

It happens when you add a custom image to a game cover, not sure if there are other instances that causes it.

I don't have added any custom image but it freezes anyway. This happen under linux, not tested under windows yet.

The same's been happening recently to me as well pretty much constantly. Also on Linux.

yeah, same issue here. It happens every time when I am going through store and back to Library.

Reproduction steps:
1. Click Store tab
2. Click any category from "Browse by genre" (e.g. Action)
3. Click any link on list and then immediately (without waiting for page load) navigate to Library

After that, Library tab will be unresponsive to clicks. Other tabs work.

Same issue here, this is really bad for me as it will happen at any excuse and I have to keep re-launching the client. Also odd behaviour like selecting multiple items in the library at once with no way to interact with individual items in the list. Getting to the point that I'm considering opting out of the Beta...

Running Steam (Runtime) on Arch Linux using XFCE GUI.

Same here. The library keeps freezing and I have to restart steam. I'm using the latest Ubuntu.
This new library UI really sucks

Confirmed reproduction on Ubuntu 18.04. Wasn't an issue on initial beta release though.

Edit:
Might be worth noting that the interface doesn't necessarily freeze, just seems like no elements within the frame are able to gain focus and no rendering updates are fired, but events are still triggered when an element is clicked (mostly links). In cases where a video link was clicked, the video sound plays without the view rendering anything new.

I agree with Bob; We're Linux users, so we don't care what it looks like as long as it functions... this isn't functioning. Function over Form please.

EDIT: As an example, after posting here I now have to re-start my client to gain access to my Library... when the entire rest of Steam still works flawlessly...

I recommend you opt out of Beta for now until this is fixed, this is what I have done for now. It is unusable in its current state on Linux for me.

Yeah, I just did the same because it somehow got even worse after the last update.

Having the same freezing problem, after quitting a game, after switching between store/ downloads/ library/ etc.

Resizing the window updates one frame, then it's frozen again.

I will keep the beta for now, but please Valve, fix it quickly!!!

I don't know if I've just been lucky since this morning or if this actually worked but I haven't had any freeze since disabling "Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views" in Steam - Settings - Interface.

Maybe try that and see if it works for you.
