Less than 50% of the Steam games have new aspect ratio images, the rest (6 out of 11) are using their old image.
Here is an example of old aspect ratio artwork added by the user (left) "filled" on the tile versus old aspect ratio artwork added by Steam (right) "fitted" on the tile.

Thanks for the link, but I'm just providing feedback on this change. I will get around to replacing my 100-ish non-Steam tiles eventually.
So, think of this... The user can choose between three, possibly four options in a drop-down menu or similar.
Tall tiles. All art, regardless of actual size, are forced into DVD box style tiles. This includes the new art and the old wide art (as seen in the current beta).
Wide tiles. All content uses the old wide tiles and the old art it had before.
Mixed tiles. All art uses the new tall tiles if art that fits it is available, and the wide tiles as a fallback.
Individually chosen. As a possible fourth option, a user can customize his preference of tiles for each individual title.
Just a thought.
I second this thought - some games are simply unlikely to ever get a tall banner, so being able to use their Grid-style banner as a fallback would be invaluable until you can find a replacement.

Because a lot of them look like this

Ugly and pixelated random images.

They can't, since it's not up to them. Game devs and publishers are supposed to update them.
I also don't want to do the EVER again. It sucked.
I BIG thank you goes to the community (steamgriddb!) and more than NO THANKS goes to Valve who take all the money.
While I appreciate the gesture and recommendation, no offense but they don't any artwork for ANY of the games I play, which is mostly old retro racing games. For example,
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5
Initial D 7
OutRun 2
Daytona 2
Night Driver for Atari 2600
Grand Prix for the Atari 2600
Lotus Espirit Challenge for the Amiga
Virtua Racing
Scud Race
F-Zero GX
GTI Crub
....you get the picture.
