I've noticed that the Library can display up to two games' hours correctly, before reseting a previously correct one to zero. But again, the community profile page displays the correct total hours for my games.
Thanks for saying something, I opted out of the beta and forgot to opt back in, so I had no idea a new beta client was out.
Thanks Valve!
Ah, so it is! Opted back in to the beta to try it out, and sure enough it's fixed. That's great news.
This time it is showing values for all games, but most of them are nonsense. It's claiming I have 9 hours for Antichamber, when I know for certain that I have only played it for around 1 minute to test that it works.
EDIT: It appears the correct value is shown after you execute the game. Weird.
EDIT2: After a Steam restart all games appear fine. No idea...
I've never done the Steam Client Beta before, so have a quick question:
When the Steam Client next officially updates and I'm in the Beta, will I be removed from it? Or will I have to leave the Beta manually? If the latter, how will I know that there's been an official Steam update, seeing as the Beta people get it tested first.
Also, has anyone who's joined the Beta to have this game time problem fixed now left the Beta and their game times are remain OK?
Total horus for a game now display properly on the Library Details view. When I exited the Beta they disappeared again, so for now they only seem to be displaying when you opt in to it.
HOWEVER, it seems that whatever game you play, the total play times for ALL GAMES are increased by the time of your last game session. So if I've already played BioShock Infinite for 25 hours and Braid for 13 hours, then I play BioShock Infinite for one hour, when I go back to the Steam Library it will say I've played Braid for 14 hours. These times are reset to their correct ones when you restart Steam.
In fact, I'm not entirely certain the game you play actually updates its time...
But it's not really what you describe: I've played a game for 30min and all others games were increased up to 3 hours.
But after restarting Steam, all is ok.
Think I'm gonna opt out of the Beta and hope this gets fixed soon.
