Right click Steam on your system tray
Go to Settings>Downloads
In this section you can
1. Limit updates between _____ and _____ time to ______ KB/s or MB/s
2. Restrict downloads while ingame
Additionally you can pause downloads if you see any active;
by going to Library>Downloads and clicking the pause button [ | | ]
Not really - you have to remember to dive into settings to enable it every time when you connect to mobile hotspot and disable it afterwards.
I would expect Steam Deck to have a simple option to simply mark a Wi-Fi network as metered and automatically disabling auto-updates while connected to it.
a) The option for marking a network as "metered" is only present in the OS(on Steam Deck in desktop mode only).
b) Steam does not respect the OS network setting. Even if connected to a network that is marked as "metered" it will not stop downloading updates.
