[TF2] Steam Beta must be running to make use of Find Servers

Well, i just tried to play TF2 but when i want to browse for servers i get the message right in the server browser :

Steam Beta must be running to make use of Find Servers.

The refresh/connect button is grayed out and can not used.

Im in the beta and checking for updates show me client us uptodate.

Fixed by Changing Steam>Preferences>Beta participating> to NONE

Well its back again. Even when i try to connect to a TF2 Server via Console, i get the Message "Steam must be running"

Hello? Steam IS running. I cant fix it with changing Beta to NONE. So atm TF2 is unplayble for me.

This issue seems coming up after using an extra firewall on OSX like TCPBlock. While using the Steam Beta, some files may change while updating to a newer version, BUT not inside the firewall.

Deleting Steam´s firewall rules before patching a beta has fixed this problem here, 100% reproducible.

U have to repeat that everytime u get a new beta or steam update atm.

How the HELL am I supposed to delete Steam's firewall rules?

1.Open Steam

2.Click on "Steam" at the top left corner

3.Click Settings

4.Click Change...

5.Select "Steam beta Update"

6.Watch the magic happen.

I've set it to the steam beta update, courter strike:source and day of defeat source work just fine
yet tf2 cant find a damn server. am i missing something? is there any way to uninstall this or fix it?

This error actually has nothing to do with the Steam client beta. It's a leftover message from a long time ago.

Something is blocking communication to/from Steam, check your firewall.

Restart steam to fix this, it's happening when your internet connection stopped and started again, or not playing games for a longer time. Just restart it and it should be fixed

If nothing fix this, u should uninstall STEAM, delete all related firewall rules, and download STEAM from the website again.

Be sure to get out of the beta program before uninstalling, otherwise i think it will update ur client again to the beta.
