Is there a 64-bit Steam client for Windows?
Steam support seems to be oblivious about its own product and has no clue, so I am asking the question here...is there a 64-bit Steam client for Windows? I hope this group is not as lacking in knowledge!! ;-)

Right. And not arguing what is better lol.
Steam is a fancy app launcher. Sure, in this day and age it should be natively compiled 64-bit but other than dragging crap 32-bit MS libraries, it doesn't impact the games by much.
Sheesh, most coders are doing "Hello world" in 64-bit MSVC haha

It doesn't matter what is better, only what is necessary. You won't handle a 32bit application, with 64bit code. Steam must support 32bit and 64bit applications at the same time, which means it must have some handler working on 32bit. And it has, the launcher itself, although later the whole thing already works in 64bit. Even steamservice.exe is already rewritten and works in 64bit (i386 64bit).
I'm still seeing a 32-bit SteamService.exe on my installation, which is in the Beta.

The new Steam Beta is a WIP and won't be fully ready for a few more months.
All you will see right now with the latest Beta are some GUI updates.

I tried all the release channels and it is still using a 32-bit SteamService.exe.

Strange. On my system: steamservice.exe, Steam Client Service, Image type i386 (64bit). Only launcher is 32bit, everything else is 64bit.

^ Correct

It will state if something is 32bit when running a 64bit OS.
The ones that don't say 32bit next to them are in fact 64bit, cause there is no reason to point this out on a 64bit OS.

I think we might see a 64bit client with 1st of jan 2024, because chrome dropped support of 32bit version ( with early of 2023) and steam [was using older chrome libraries ] is also dropping support for all versions of windows earlier than windows 10 [with 1st of jan 2024] because passing to newer version of chrome's webview ( which doesnt have 32bit support ) ( also chrome dropped support of older versions of windows )
I'm not talking about dropping support of running 32bit games
I'm talking about client's version, you have to remember that 64bit applications couldnt link/use 32bit libraries , or 32bit applications couldnt link/use 64bit libraries

My question here is why support 32 bit anything at all nowadays, NOBODY runs it. Windows everything nowadays is 64 bit and Steam clients are 32 bit. WHY? Now for linux, mac , sure I get 32 bit clients BUT that's a totally different platform and thus different client, BUT we are talking WINDOWS here.

Windows continues to support 32-bit x86 binaries with no plans to deprecate it. Even the "64-bit only" x86S will support 32-bit in Ring 3.

Steam still sells many 32-bit games and must continue to support those games on Windows and Linux.

Client's being 32bit or 64 bit is 0 releation with the game itself. Any pure 64bit launcher can start a 32 bit or any pure 32bit launcher can start a 64bit. It is OS's compatibility not steams.
So your arguments are 0 effective on this topic.

We are talking about Steam Client's being 64bit only not talking about dropping 32bit game support( which is out of discustion here )
also it is almost impossible to drop complete 32 bit support for next 100 years if we were talking about most of the games

Steam itself was using chrome's old libraries which is built with 32bit thus it has to be 32bit only because a 32 bit application couldnt link/use a 64bit library or a 64bit application couldnt use/link a 64bit library.
They couldnt switch to 64 bit chrome libraries to keep support for windows 7/8 users because some windows 7 and 8.1 was still 32bit only os'es.

Long story short , with 1st of jan all win 7 , 8 , 8.1 support will be ended and they will pass to newer version of chrome libraries which are 64bit that means we will see 64bit steam client just after 1st of jan 2024.

On linux and mac , we already have 64bit steam clients.
ps : dont forget the fact that you can still launch a 32bit game when you have 64bit only client

You completely have no idea what you are talking about. And as an aside: CEF is already 64bit in the current version of the client like whole client (again: except direct launcher to maintain 32bit compatibility).

No brother , they were keeping older version of CEF to keep compatibility for win7 , 8 , 8.1 and thats the why they are dropping support of them with 1st of jan ( if you dont believe me you can just make a research )
Also even they want to use a 64 bit library they couldnt do with a 32bit client ( as like i mentioned before you couldnt link or use a 64 bit library with a 32bit process )

There is used 64bit version of CEF. Finally, stop ranting. You have no clue about the subject.

Perhaps the Client should add an assert to detect depletion of process address space, to detect if a 64-bit client would be needed. Steam.exe is currently Large Address Aware meaning it is allowed up to 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB on 64-bit systems.
