The new Steam Beta is a WIP and won't be fully ready for a few more months.
All you will see right now with the latest Beta are some GUI updates.
Strange. On my system: steamservice.exe, Steam Client Service, Image type i386 (64bit). Only launcher is 32bit, everything else is 64bit.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985610096
It will state if something is 32bit when running a 64bit OS.
The ones that don't say 32bit next to them are in fact 64bit, cause there is no reason to point this out on a 64bit OS.
Again: image i386 64bit.
I'm not talking about dropping support of running 32bit games
I'm talking about client's version, you have to remember that 64bit applications couldnt link/use 32bit libraries , or 32bit applications couldnt link/use 64bit libraries
Steam still sells many 32-bit games and must continue to support those games on Windows and Linux.
So your arguments are 0 effective on this topic.
We are talking about Steam Client's being 64bit only not talking about dropping 32bit game support( which is out of discustion here )
also it is almost impossible to drop complete 32 bit support for next 100 years if we were talking about most of the games
Steam itself was using chrome's old libraries which is built with 32bit thus it has to be 32bit only because a 32 bit application couldnt link/use a 64bit library or a 64bit application couldnt use/link a 64bit library.
They couldnt switch to 64 bit chrome libraries to keep support for windows 7/8 users because some windows 7 and 8.1 was still 32bit only os'es.
Long story short , with 1st of jan all win 7 , 8 , 8.1 support will be ended and they will pass to newer version of chrome libraries which are 64bit that means we will see 64bit steam client just after 1st of jan 2024.
On linux and mac , we already have 64bit steam clients.
ps : dont forget the fact that you can still launch a 32bit game when you have 64bit only client
You completely have no idea what you are talking about. And as an aside: CEF is already 64bit in the current version of the client like whole client (again: except direct launcher to maintain 32bit compatibility).
No brother , they were keeping older version of CEF to keep compatibility for win7 , 8 , 8.1 and thats the why they are dropping support of them with 1st of jan ( if you dont believe me you can just make a research )
Also even they want to use a 64 bit library they couldnt do with a 32bit client ( as like i mentioned before you couldnt link or use a 64 bit library with a 32bit process )
There is used 64bit version of CEF. Finally, stop ranting. You have no clue about the subject.
