Also if you want to follow someone making videos on youtube, subscribe to their youtube channel. Thats what I do and when I went to see a video from them, I just check the subscription on youtube. Same can be done from pretty much any other video site. Most of the people that put up video of their playing don't want 10,000 people bugging them to join their game, thats usually why they don't just say "hey this is my steam account, add me as a friend if you want to play with me"
Yes people can see some info now without being connected as friends but they have to actively go and search for that info and even then its limited to how public you have your account.
As for the steam verification, I don't really see that as a huge problem, again if you want to follow someone doing videos you do it on youtube and if they want people bugging them to play they will put up their gaming name there.
Yes, you consume content here, but this isn't a platform made solely for consuming content (you also do things here, like, you know, play games).
How would you determine who would be eligible to receive a verified badge? By the number of friends? Subscribers on YouTube?
This is also a really bad idea.
Servers don't have an unlimited number of available slots; the experience for a celebrity/streamer would be ruined if this were ever implemented.
it is not necessary to simplify maniacs opportunity to pursue people - we have some time trying to find a man, who uses Steam for bullying harassment and slander people - your idea will simplify his life
and also, what about making a "privat" option wich will block following completely
No. No.
All following does is allow a user to see publicly posted stuff you do. The same can be done without a Steam account and looking at your public stuff.
