Can you play your games on Xbox One?
With the new update, does it mean that you can play your PC games on your Xbox One, like Dark Souls 2?

I didn't know there was a steam app for the Xbox One...
I don't see it happening unless you're installing SteamOS on the One, which I would imagine would void your warranty.

Looked further and noticed it was up on the main page...
What I can gather is that this is an announcement for the features in Beta going public.
on that page it adds additional informaiton stating...

Play your Windows games on devices running other operating systems
Currently Mac OS X, Linux, and SteamOS, with support for more systems coming soon.

Play your demanding games on lower-end systems (I suppose this might include the Xbox One in a future/alternate reality update.)
System requirements dictate the rig you’ll need to run your game, but with In-Home Streaming they won’t limit where you can play.

I really hope you are kidding, I don't know why you would want to play glorious PC games on a potatoe.

Im more interested in just using my xbox controller to play my PC games, but I dont know how to set up my wireless controller.

I think you need a wireless adapter for your wireless xbox controller

go to walmart and buy a wired xbox 360 controller. roughly $30 and all the needed software is already built into the controller and comp. DO NOT BUY THE WIRE THAT CONNECTS WIRELESS CONTROLERS TO THE XBOX. It doesnt have the software to transmit what you are doing. a wireless adapter also works.

If u have a wireless 360 controller already, to use that on PC you need this > http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Receiver-Windows-Pc/dp/B00E0OB7MW

Do not buy "Play & Charge Kit" as this will not be able to transmit the data for a wireless controller, thus won't allow it to work on PC.

Oh hey thanks you guys, no wonder it wouldnt work, i actually was trying to use the Charge Kit.

Play & Charge works on a 360 because the wireless receiver is already inside the 360 console. So for PC, this is why u need to purchased a wireless receiver.

I am really hoping for a lot from this STEAM OS idea because i really want to be able to play my PC games downstairs on my TV (and maybe cinema sound setup?) while its running from my PC upstairs. My concern is if i will be able to have something that will recieve the PC's data and allow me to control everything from downstairs including keyboard and mouse input as well as when i want to use my xbox 360 controller for input too. i don't know much about all this but i think maybe the steam box will be the answer?? am i right in thinking this? are there other alternatives?

also how much storage space and upgradeability will the steambox have cos if steam os runs well and stabley then i'll want to transfer my two 3TB hdd's to it and set all my games up on that instead of my pc tbh. I really hope they're thinking about this kind of thing cos a lot of people will want to change platform if it's possible and have more of a gaming power house oriented system without all the windows bloating side of things slowing everything down and causing conflicts/problems/crashes/etc.

thanks for any advice people :D
