Steam says I played a game when I haven't?
So I checked out my Steam profile and noticed Steam said I played "Payday 2" last night before logging off, which I know is impossible because this is a brand new computer and I haven't even installed Payday nor did I plan to. I am wondering if this is some sort of a common bug or something that happens on Steam.

I know for a fact no one has been on my account as there are no signs of a break in, no e-mail comfirmation for "Steam Guard" no items missing and no recent trades, as well as my family settings being all in place where they should be. Steam showed me as "last offline" exactly 10 hours ago which is when I went to sleep. I forgot to mention Steam Guard has been active in place since 2012, so could this just be a common bug or am I paranoid?

And sometimes it just happens for unknown reasons, i've noticed too for some my games.

Not recently no, I have such software on my Lalptop but I haven't used it in a good 3 days. This computer is still a fresh install of Windows. So I am guessing this is most likely a common bug and I am not the only one this has happened to.

Over exaggerated stats for Steam can only be a good thing for their investors, but for that poor kid whos parents have laid down rules on a specific amount of game play time they can have per week it ain't looking pretty lol..

Steam has always done this and its happened to me numerous times, they really should correct it.

(im not on beta btw)

Oddly this happened over a year ago to me now, however it hasn't happened since. My account has definitely not been hacked or exposed as my mobile phone protection is constantly enabled.

Once installed, a free game shows as "In library" indefinitively on the Store page, even when using a new computer. You can remove the predicate via
(right top corner) {your login nick} -> (dropdown menu) Account Details -> (top pane) Store & Purchase History -> View Licences and product key activations.

Do you have Family Share enabled? I can imagine this being a variation on the "Recently played" bug that's been fixed lately.

Some times when downloading a non-steam game and you launching it, Steam can connect to the game and say about a game that never was in the pc before (Steam not installing the game)
"(Some nickname) In-Game (Some game that not installed on the pc)"
