Where is Apple Silicon support? It's almost 2024 already
It's November 2023, M1 debuted in 2020 and there's still no support for Mac when more than 2/3 of the Mac users are already on Apple Silicon Macs

M3 even has Ray Tracing already as well as iPhone's A17 Pro

This is a paid platform, a store that takes commission on each sale, it's not free to be some sort of abandonware. Even the latest refresh gives problems on Windows, with the screenshot manager kind of crashing often showing a "Refresh" button to reload and being super slow to load low resolution thumbnails, something that didn't fail before

Apple haven’t dropped Intel binary support yet. Don’t expect any movement from Valve on anything until they have absolutely no choice.

Only thing I could read about running x86_64 on the m1 is using rosetta

Nothing but the truth

You think VALVE is in the market to be liked?
They aren't doing this for a popularity Contest...
Valve is not in bed with Apple...

Apple & VALVE are not having an orgie together,
they aren't making love, everything is cold between them...

If you don't like it, you can turn on some love music,
in hopes to bring them together?

I don't think VALVE will listen to you, though...

PS:
BAD JOKE, I Know...

But hey? Keep supporting Apple, & see for yourself...
But whatever ya do... Don't support Windows 11, o_@

sucks ass that steam still runs as an intel app through rosetta in 2024. valve please use some of all that underage gambling money you have to make an M-native client

You should ask Apple where is the translation layer.
They decided to jump into a exclusive architecture, not Valve.

Either way, you got a Mac. Deal with your problem now.

So you want Steam, to make a client where by literally every game you have ever bought on Steam will become unplayable on

Do you wonder why maybe dumping resources into that might not be the best idea

According to the user survey, less than 30% of MacOS users use M1 machines, and that's the most common out of all Mac Steam users, which are about 1.5% of the total user base.
Do you know how much work it is to support a new processor architecture?
To do it for about 0.5% of the user base would be a bad decision unless the amount of users using Apple silicon will rise dramatically.
Tell your Mac using friends to use Steam on the Mac, that will help drive this.
In addition, why do you need the client to be native? It's a client, do you have performance bottlenecks with it? If so, it's more likely to be a bug than because of Rosetta.

As a starter, there should be a filter for "Apple silicon compatible" in the Steam app. Currently there's only a "Mac compatible" filter, and this does not help at all. Most of the games listed as Mac compatible don't run properly on M1 etc. So gamers have to check this on random forums, or test each game themselves...

Heck, make it community-driven, if you don't want to test games yourself. Make it a rating "works on my M1", so users can leave their feedback for each game. Whatever, do SOMETHING about it.

That’s a great idea. And most importantly, they need to do something about it. It’s abandoned when it’s a paid platform, and they are making money. It’s sad to see Steam and its franchises in such a state. Victory was their defeat

Ok and so what if the M3 has hardware RT? Nvidia has had it since 2018, AMD since 2020, and I believe Intel since 2020 or 2021. Now obviously Apple can probably have RT done better than AMD and Intel, but there's no way in hell they can surpass Nvidia.

People Haven't Cared One Bit About Apple At All In The Past 4 Years...
--- Not One Word About Apple Was Spoken On STEAM

There Was A Few Qu? Regarding Apple / STEAM Support...
