verify integrity of game files should support multiple cores
This feature is something I use a lot when I move game files between computers.
It uses only one CPU core for the validation and since I have a fast SSD, the process is limited by the CPU and not by the storage in my case.
I think since it's usually many files, the validation can run in multiple threads.

Same issue here, limited to around 500mb/s verification on my Ryzen 5 3600 however my gen4 NVME can do 8gb/s

This has been a big annoyance. Being single threaded make what should take a few seconds take minutes..

This is 2024 and the Steam verify game integrity still being single core / 2 threads

that's strange; when i verify game cache, the bandwith often exceeds 500mb/s and goes to like 2gb/s. i suspect it's because Valve updated Steam so that the SDRAM is used for extra support, since it's still faster than even NVME
