If you own a copy of minecraft on your computer, you can make a non-steam game shortcut on your steam. That way you can launch Mc through your steam client and your friends can see that you are playing that specific game. This works with all "non-steam" games.

You need to go and ask the devs/publishers of the games to bring them to Steam. Valve doesn't go around asking game companies to bring their games to Steam.

If Microsoft decided to bring Minecraft to Steam, they would have to give free copies to the owners of the previous edition since not many people would buy it again.

why would they do that , they'd only release the launcher on steam but that doesn't mean accounts would be available over steam.

but really i was hoping for an unofficial kind of launcher for steam+minecraft
kind of a atlauncher or FTB launcher but using steam workshop to share maps and mods
