- Enter Big Picture mode
- Settings (gear in upper right)
- Controller - Controller Settings
- Check "PS4 Configuration Support"
- Wait about 10 seconds and you should see a popup ("new DS4 detected" or something like that), if not: close Steam, reconnect the wireless adapter and restart Steam
- In the Controller Settings it should now show the DS4 under "Detected Controllers" (directly below "Controller shutdown time")
It then doesn't matter if you open the game through the Big Picture mode but it is important to pick a template:
- Enter Big Picture Mode
- Library
- Pick your game
- You should see a warning message ("Controller Configuration Required ...")
- Manage Game
- Controller Options - Check "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers" - Ok
- Controller Configuration
- [] for "Browse Configs"
- Pick one in the "Templates" or "Community" category
- X for "Import Config" -> shows the config
- [] for "Apply Configuration"
You can also change the settings while in-game by pressing the PS button.
Afterwards you might have to restart the game/Steam to make the template take affect!
