Because the folder located under [Steam > Settings > In-Game > Screenshot Folder] is for the uncompressed, PNG-formatted screenshots.

For which you need to also tick this box,
:correctamundo:
Save an uncompressed copy

No matter what you do (except move Steam elsewhere or use symbolic links), Steam will plant its compressed JPG screenshots under
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\%SteamID3%\760\remote\%app-ID%\screenshots\*

Had this same issue...is it saving a two copies now? One to your desired folder and the other to steam's remote folder?

Steam will always save the JPG file under Steam\userdata\760\remote\*

The custom location should be for the uncompressed PNG files.

Basically, yes - it should be two shots.

I made a custom folder for the PNG screenshots whilst playing something, but they do not appear after disabling the feature, deleting the older folder, making a newer one and re-enabling the feature. Help?

Does your overlay work in-game then?

Could be an overlay conflict caused bu something like MSI’s Rivatuner.

This is handled so bad by Steam.

'Screenshot Folder' button should be only clickable after enabling 'save an uncompressed copy' setting, indicating to the user that one setting is needed for the other.

Steam is such a garbage software. I'm so annoyed by its stupid, disgusting, counter-intuitive setting design.

Anyway, Tev's answer works for me, thanks.

thank you for this information. what a remarkably obtuse way of handling screenshots, i never would have figured this out on my own.
