New UI release - doesn't start minimized?

In the old UI, when you launched a game from a desktop shortcut (or playnite launcher) it will show the steam loading screen and start steam minimized to tray.

But now the launcher will show up on desktop along with some news.

Is there anyway to have the old behavior here?

I'm having this issue too. However, if you change the settings to startup in the Library instead of the Store, and modify your registry and the shortcut to add the -silent argument, it will work. It shouldnt be this way, but it currently is.

Does the registry change work only when running steam on startup? or there are other methods?

You can create a shortcut and add

 -silent

at the end of the Target entry.
You'll need to change the start screen. For me the Store didn't work, but the Library screen did

Problem is that I don't use the steam shortcut, I use the playnite launcher. I guess it is similar to using the game shortcut to launch

You can make a regular app shortcut to the game executable and add that parameter. And thanks for telling me that there's such app

Thanks! i will look into this.

And yes, playnite is awesome. It requires a little bit of tweaking to make it beautiful with a theme and plugins like achievemets showcase. The community is great and helpful in Discord.
