Taskbar icon can no longer launch Friends list as a setting
Updated to the new Steam. Double clicking the taskbar icon no longer launches the Friends list. Can no longer find the setting in Settings > Interface.

Yep, that's pretty annoying. Valve, please add the Friends List as a Start Up Location in the interface settings!

Taskbar ?
Settings is still on the taskbar
left click the Steam in the taskbar just click on friends and up pops the friends list.
Below it is Settings its now global.
Select friends and chat to access those settings.
Settings are now also in Steam top left settings>friends & chat instead of the gear in Friends & chat.
The old friends and chat is also at the bottom of the Steam client on the right side.

I know how to open the friends list – you are missing the point.

Valve removed the possibility to have the friends list open on a simple double-click on the steam icon. It worked before the client update, now it doesn't anymore. It doesn't matter what other possibilities I have to get to the friends list.

cron gets the point. I don't want to launch into Valve's Store view as a default, just bring up my friend's list automatically. It used to be a setting, now it's been removed in the update.

Not sure if you are being thick or what but stop posting this copy and paste response to every thread like this one. They all know how to open the friend list and are complaining about the change that was made making it no longer open when double clicking the tray icon. You are either really dense or who knows what else.

Please fix this Valve, I have used this function for years and it sucks that it is now no longer available for no apparent reason whatsoever!!
