Context Menu entries not clickable anymore
Since the new UI got released, non of the context menu entries are clickable anymore.
Whenever you open a menu via right click (or a dropdown menu within settings), and then leftclick an option, it is like you click on the space behind the menu, making it impossible to edit game settings etc.

A workaround is, to press CTRL Key while doing the leftclick...

Can confirm the same behavior here (Gentoo linux). Thanks for the workaround in the meantime,

Same problem in Pop_os (based on 22.04 LTS Ubuntu) context menu clicks fall through to the layer beneath it (like selecting the game in the list that is hidden by the context menu option you are clicking on)

there is a 'optional' fix in the settings now:

From the beta release notes: "Add a setting to improve compatibility with window managers that send an unfocus event before every pointer click event, e.g. openbox. This setting can be found in
"Settings->Interface->Enable context menu focus compatibility mode".
Enabling this setting will fix dropdown menus being unclickable on these window managers."

This setting does not exist in the settings with steam -vgui, which with this update also started exhibiting the problem on this computer!

But I could start steam without any arguments, switch the option, then go back to -vgui and the option is still stored and works, even if hidden.

I'm happy for now :)

This seems to work for me!:

The "fix" in the settings menu did not work for me at all. i tried both the beta and base clients, and I tried both with and without -vgui. Wasn't a problem until today when -no-cef-sandbox option stopped working (which I had been using up until now to avoid the new broken interface).

Ubuntu 22.04, KDE desktop.
Steam just randomly started doing that for me today, the compatibility fix works.

I'm on Debian 12 with main contrib non-free and non-free-firmware as well as debian-security, nvidia driver 525.125.06-1~deb12u1 but behavior is unchanged whether ran with iGPU or the dedicated one

I found out what caused the problem for me. I accidentally changed the window focus mode in Gnome Tweaks. It was set to focus windows on hover and bring them on top. After going back to click to focus, everything is back to normal

alt-F2 "gnome-tweaks" windows -> Window_Focus -> Click_to_Focus - works for me too.

This is not really an acceptable fix. Click to focus is garbage, and focus on hover is a key feature of many window managers. Non-clickable menus in steam has been an intermittent issue for years now, and they need to get it figured out for good.

Thank you lots. This never got fixed (i'm using Debian 12) but at least i can manage my games now LOL

If any linux user on KDE notices the issue where you click through right click (context menu) in game library, the fix is similar. Changing the default Focus option from Click to Focus to Focus follows mouse fixes it. I don't really like focus follows mouse, but its the only thing I could find that 100% resolves this behavior. I believe this is due to right mouse button not activating "click to focus" as I believe it should. At least for me on x11, if any other window other than steam had focus and I right clicked a game to open open properties, the click selection would go through. Once the window was selected it then would work properly.

Window management > window behavior > focus > focus follows mouse.

I've been having the same issue for over a year. Game properties button doesn't work 20% of the time and Context menus in the Library tree appears and disappears within 100ms after right click, about 20% of the time.

Changing the focus settings on Gnome Tweaks doesn't fix it.
