Scrambled Text Error When Launching Non-Steam Game
ISSUE
When launching a non-steam game (specifically "The Bazaar" for me), a "Windows cannot find..." error window shows up with scrambled characters. Closing that error and attempting to relaunch fixes it. This happens 100% of the time and started a couple days ago, and only with The Bazaar for me. A screenshot example of the error is here: https://i.imgur.com/sHzk382.png
Note that it has been working fine before, and The Bazaar's launcher hasn't been updated.

OS
Windows 10

STEPS
  • Add The Bazaar's Launcher, "Tempo Launcher - Beta", as non-steam game to Steam
  • Attempt to launch
  • Close error message that pops up
  • Attempt to launch a second time and successfully open game

RESULTS
Game only opens after the second attempt.

EXPECTED
Game should open without errors.

Can confirm this is happening to me too. Ever since the March 10th update, I've had my non-Steam games (Which had previously opened perfectly fine) fail to launch the first time I do so, with an error message containing scrambled characters.

Removing and adding the non-Steam game does nothing but let you reproduce the error fresh each time. No launch options or any other configuration is being used on my system.

Also can confirm that this happens to me as well, launching non steam games used to work just fine, but every first launch whenever my system boots up (or after restarting steam) causes a scrambled text error before it actually launches on the second attempt.

I'm not able to reproduce this. Is it happening with all non-Steam games or just particular ones? Can anyone provide detailed repro steps on how you're creating the non-Steam game and how you're attempting to launch it?
