Automatic creation of desktop shortcut

Hi, Just got a new computer. Re-installed steam. When I go to re-install my games, no box pops up asking if I want to create a shortcut - it just automatically does it - which is very annoying. I then have to go and delete each shortcut (otherwise i could't find anything on my screen). I checked under settings and there is no setting to turn this feature off - yet my old computer never did this. Is there a way to disable the automatic creation of desktop shortcuts?

When you choose which drive to install on after clicking the install button, that pop up screen should have the checkboxes below the games title and above the drives to select.

Thank you so much - I must need to increase my font size again - I knew it should be there somewhere, but couldn't see it (very poor eye sight).

I should get glasses myself. Higher resolution monitors and TVs are rough when you get older.
