Steam Screenshots: Steam Overwriting "Taken" Date With "Posted" Date
Currently there is no way to know when a screenshot was actually "taken" outside of viewing the file's metadata for the data, since Steam shows a "taken" timestamp internally when viewing screenshots which gets replaced with the uploaded date once you upload it.

If you still have the reference in your "screenshots.vdf" file it has a "creation" property with a UNIX timestamp with the correct date/time of when the screenshot was taken.

If a screenshot is not uploaded, the date/time is correct as to when a screenshot was taken.

I'd still like to be able to see when I actually took a screenshot, and not solely when it was uploaded.

This is what it shows before uploading a screenshot:

This is what it shows after uploading the screenshot:

Look at the "Taken" section at the bottom left of the screenshot. See how the dates changed from the original date the screenshot was taken, to the uploaded date?
yeah this is really annoying it changes the date

Glad to hear I am not the only one that noticed. Thank you for sharing!
Given how Valve recently fixed the major Games Freeze When Taking Screenshots issue, is there any chance this could also be looked into?

It really sucks when you want to look back on your memories, because when you do finally decide to upload screenshots for a game it will set the "taken" date/time to the date/time you actually uploaded it on, and not the actual date/time it was taken on.

AKA if I decide to upload my Half-Life 2 screenshots taken in 2004, I want it to properly show as under 2004 if I scroll through my screenshots feed, and not have it come up as 2025. I want to be able to "relive" a moment in time, if that makes any sense?
