It is noteworthy that Steam only executes the desktop functions and the desktop configuration on the controller is active and works (but only this).
If you are in the game, e.g. on the main page, the controller executes exactly what is defined in the standard desktop configuration of Steam. The left Stick-Click opens the Steam on-screen keyboard, the triggers send the left and right mouse clicks and the buttons also generate exactly the keyboard keystrokes defined in the desktop configuration. Even the right stick moves the mouse at the familiar, leisurely desktop pace.
During this, Fortnite never switches the UI from mouse/keyboard operation view to controller view (because it only receives mouse and keyboard inputs but no controller inputs).
Could it be that Steam does not or cannot recognize that the game is running? Because Steam basically behaves as if it were simply in desktop mode.
The question remains, what or which recent changes to the interface could cause this behavior?
Everything is working perfectly for me again, as it should.
There was a Steam Beta and a Fortnite update today. I don't know if it's directly related or if someone else did the right thing in the background - I'm very pleased and thank you very much.
Whoever it was - you have been awarded the Order of the Truly Cool Heroes.
