All friends last online the same time ago
I looked at my friends list but I had to sign in and it said I was last online 7 minutes ago, then I sign in and it says on every single one of my 8 friends (yeah, i'm mr popular) that they were last online 7 minutes ago, all of my friends, all the same time ago.
Now it says one of my friends is playing Gmod but that the rest of my friends were last online 32 minutes ago.

Yeah I've read through multiple threads about the bug, it is annoying as hell but I find fully closing steam and re opening fixes it, a video I saw said blocking and then unblocking fixes it too but that sounds more annoying than just restarting steam, I've noticed the bug happens if my net dies, so the steam friends list thinks everyone else went offline and seems to store that....

It is almost everytime I log into Steam that this happens. I just went offline to test it and it said (at first) i was on 4 minutes ago. Then after a split second, it said 0 seconds. I go back online and it says all of my friends were on 4 minutes ago. Not that I don't mind this bug, but it can get anoying at times. *Found a bit of a solution* - Restart Steam; this is the only solution I have found so far.

This is happening to me as well, but the restart steam solution does nothing for me. Usually it will still tell me if someone is online, but I can't really be sure anymore. Help?

Considering valve hires chimpanzees to program, it's amazing there even is a friends list
Just had the exact same issue, after I restarted Steam everything seemed to be working properly.

I've just observed the same issue, after resuming from S3 sleep. Steam beta build 4 apr 2016, Windows 8.1 x64

Wow, old thread... I'm having the same issue.

Yeah I've been having this issue for years. What da ♥♥♥♥, Valve.

It's happening in the normal client too (non-beta client version from March 22). PC went to sleep or energy save mode, I assume that triggered it. Exiting and reopening the client helped...
Slightly confusing when the client makes us think long lost friends have come back for a minute and went without a word. ;-)

This is still a problem. It's impossible to tell which friends are inactive on steam/no longer using it.

This is still happening in November 2017... yikes.
Yup, still an issue. This has been bugging the hell out of me for years. Fix your ♥♥♥♥ steam. For real. 4 Years and a prominent issue still hasn't been fixed? What DO you guys do with the cash we give you, exactly? Most companies use some of the profits for something the rest of the world knows as "Maintenance."
