Big Picture mode unable to switch online/offline

ISSUE
If you start big picture mode while your status is set to offline you are unable to switch your status to online (the status dropdown list stays empty). When signed in as online you cannot switch to offline (option vanished).

OS
Windows 8.1

STEPS

Select Big Picture from the settings menu (Make sure you`re set to appear as offline)
Select Friends or RB on controller
Select Actions or Y on controller
Select Set Status


RESULTS
A blank dropdown appears. When online no option appears to go offline or sign off. Steam sometimes crashes when returning to the library after trying to select something when offline.

EXPECTED
A sign in option when offline and a sign out option when online.
