Controllers don't work in game after waking from sleep
This is 100% reproducable for me. I have tried my steam controller as well as my xbox one controller. I have the new wireless dongle for it xbox one wireless. Both controllers stop working after computer wakes from sleep. It doesn't matter what device I use to wake the computer, I can use / identify the controllers within steam big picture mode but as soon as I launch a game, the controller input is not seen. I tested with a variety of games, FO4, Fez, JC3, Portal... The thing that resolves this situaiton is exiting and restarting steam.

Steps:
1. Play game in big picture mode with wireless controller (xbox one / steam).
2. Exit game
3. From big picture mode select Suspend System
4. After the system goes to sleep, wake it with any device (keyboard / mouse / xbox one controller / steam controller are all able to wake my computer, it makes no difference though)
5. Navigate big picture mode with your desired wireless controller
6. Launch a game with full controller support

Expected
Controller to work in game, it was working in big picture mode

Actual
Controller no worky

Restarting big picture mode doesn't help, but restarting steam completely does. Every time I wake my computer I have to restart steam to be able to use my wireless controllers.

I have the same issue. Had it on Windows 10. Did a full format, fresh install Windows 11 and Steam, same problem.
Does not matter if you use Big Picture or not, it's a global Steam issue.

1. Launch Steam, connect DualSense via bluetooth, launch game. Play for a bit.
2. Exit game and turn off controller by holding PS button for 15 seconds.
3. At this point, Steam is the active window.
4. Leave the room and let the computer go to sleep by itself.
5. Wake computer by pressing a key on the keyboard.
6. At this point, Steam is the active window.
7. Turn on DualSense, it works fine in Steam. Use it to launch a game.
8. Game doesn't receive gamepad input. When moving the left stick, you heard the Steam UI sounds. THIS IS THE BUG.
9. Alt-Tab out of the game and force close it. Exit Steam completely.
10. Start Steam, launch game. Gamepad input works fine.

I have this exact same problem.

I was using an xbox controller *without* the dongle, no problem. Then I went out and got the dongle and now I have this exact issue.

I have this issue with Division 2. If the controller goes to sleep, I have to shut down the
Division 2 and relaunch it so it can recognize the controller(Xbox One S/X and Xbox Core S/X)
