an error occurred playing this saved recording

After im done recording and i try to watch back the footage i see the message "an error occurred playing this saved recording" on the demo viewer

Any fixes? Also this is a new error, it used to work just fine

This is happening to me as well, the "Enable Video Decoding" setting was already turned on for me. I turned it off and then back on but nothing changed, still getting the error.

Having this same issue last 2 days non stop.

I am having the same issue.

When hovering the mouse over the timeline, preview thumbnails are displayed. I can also select a clip region and export it as an MP4 video without issue, which means the recorded file is being read correctly.

However, Steam is completely unable to playback any recorded video. Every time I try, it shows the error message: "An error occurred playing this saved recording". This has been happening for the past few days.


And "Hardware Video Decoding" was already enabled on my side.

All I can do right now is to blindly clip a large portion of a my capture and then cut myself what I want in a video editor.

There are some rare moment where Steam could playback my recording but when I navigate elsewhere on the timeline, the problem returns.

Still happening 95% of the time...
