Unable to change the icon of a group chat (reproducable)

Hi,

Steam support requested I make this topic here.
I am unable to change the icon of any group chat. Whenever I try to do so, I get the error "Not logged on".
This is not just me, other people have tried to do so as well, and have gotten the same error.

Steps I used to recreate this:
- open group chat
-click on the cog
-click "Add Icon"
-Select icon (I have tried several, different sizes and formats)

-Error "Not logged on" appears, icon does not change.
I have tried this on mobile as well, and it also refuses to change the icon from there.
I have also tried to log out and back in, changed nothing.

Just had this problem as well, and I am not even on the steam client beta.

As soon as someone at valve picks this up, i suppose.
Is this steam client beta page even used by them anymore?

Guys I found a solution

• I use mobile phone with chrome
  
• I used VPN
  
• I logged into the webpage of steam chat
  

  ---

  
  and then successfully changed the group chat avatar

Good that a workaround worked for you, but that's not a proper solution.

Having the problem here too, with all group chats - pretty disappointing.

Why can this not be fixed?

Most likely because it's not a high priority issue. I'm also not aware of anyone at valve actually checking this forum, but whether or not that's true is merely speculation.

Go to https://steamcommunity.com/chat/ and try there. It will probably give you an error the image is too large.
