[BUG] Steam prevents Sleep mode

This is a very old issue reported through the years and never fixed by Valve...

OS
Win 11 23H2, MacOS 10+

ISSUE
Keeping Steam client running in background and leaving the PC desktop/laptop sometimes randomly prevents system Sleep/Hibernation.
Quitting Steam is the only way to prevent this before you leave your PC.

To recap:
- Start-up location to Library, or switching to Library page before you close the client doesn't 100% work, just reduces chances but may still happen.
- Powercfg /REQUESTSOVERRIDE... the same: may still happen, with nothing shown under powercfg /requests
- Disabling HW video acceleration for the UI just reduces chances but may still happen
- Steam betas never fixed the issue

👉🏻 QUITTING STEAM BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR PC is the only solution since Valve doesn't seem to care about this random issue.

No other game client is causing this and I can keep EA App, UPlay, EGS, GOG Galaxy clients at the same time in background without problems, except Steam.

EXPECTED:
Sleep/Hibernation should work as usual after the specified time.

turn off community posts on your library. its not really a steam bug but a windows "feature". it knows there is media playing so it thinks it should stay awake. I hate it

No, no workaround like that really fixes this random issue unfortunately.
