[CRITICAL ISSUE] Non-steam games can no longer be added manually via the Browse option.
Issue: As the title says, trying to add a non-steam executable by manually browsing your filesystem (should Steam not auto-detect your desired app/game/executable) just doesn't work for whatever reason, as Steam doesn't add it to the list of programs that can be added as a non-Steam game. Huge bug that needs to be fixed ASAP for obvious reasons.

OS this occured on: Windows 11

Repro steps: Load the Steam client, running the latest beta release, then attempt to add a non-Steam game by entering the UI to do so, selecting to browse for a file, then selecting an executable using the OS file picker.

Expected result: The selected executable would get added to the list of choices in the non-Steam game addition UI, allowing you to then add it to your library.

Actual outcome: Nothing happens, and the selected executable does not get added to your library or even to the selection UI. Furthermore, attempting to exit the invoked file picker can, on occasion, trigger an abrupt and unexpected JavaScript error, strangely enough.

Don't make useless comments, there is only one way to add non-steam games not already detected by Steam, which would be to open the file picker and select the desired executable, which is exactly what fails to work as noted in the original post. If you're not on the beta client/redesigned client then don't comment as that's what has the issue currently, and on that note, said issue has been reproduced by other people as well.

First, open Steam and click Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library. You can also click Add a Game in the bottom-left corner and select Add a Non-Steam Game. A pop-up will appear with all the software installed in your programs folder.

That is the exact same thing I've been doing already, in case you somehow didn't comprehend that. You may as well stop replying since you clearly do not understand the issue and instead can only resort to copy-pasting generic, irrelevant instructions.

Thank you, I've been having this problem too and I hope Valve fixes it.

Yeah, it can be frustrating given that trying to test/investigate other bugs with the client sometimes would entail use of the non-Steam game feature, so that also not working acts as another pain in the arse sadly. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon though, and definitely before the the new UI goes live for all users.

Do you have any audiovisual proof? If so, how were you able to get it working?

And said video shows how to do it on the stable client, which makes it utterly void and useless for our purposes. Unless you provide actual proof of this working for you, I'll assume you're either misguided, running on stable or outright lying.

Are you really this dense? A) I've had this issue on a CLEAN INSTALL of Windows 11 and Steam, so that first comment is a load of nonsense, and B) clearing your download cache is utterly unrelated to this issue, as common sense would dictate (as that feature has no relation to the issue of non-steam game addition failing entirely on the web-based UI introduced in the latest beta client).
Just shut up at this rate, you aren't contributing anything useful to this conversation/issue at this point (blocked you already anyways due to your staggering incompetence).

Says the guy who immediately accused me rather derisively of doing something wrong so as to trigger this issue (as evidenced below), and who still has not proven any of their claims regarding non-steam game addition functionality whatsoever, whilst going on to give useless and frivolous 'advice'.
