Latest Steam update shows 'steamwebhelper.exe Video Wake Lock' is stopping my PC from sleeping
Since the latest Steam update, I am seeing 'steamwebhelper.exe Video Wake Lock' in 'powercfg -requests' and this is stopping my PC from sleeping or display to go off.
Only happens in Store page and has never happened before in all previous versions of Steam.
How can I resolve this? Any ideas?
Thanks.

I'm having this same problem, however, its only when I have steam set to run at startup, and only if I don't open up Steam after a restart.

So if I restart my PC and let Steam start on its own to the system tray, my PC will never auto-sleep. However if I restart my PC, let Steam startup, open Steam, the close Steam. My PC will auto-sleep again.

Seems to be an issue with the PC thinking Steam is active when it runs at startup.
My steam client is up to date however the wake lock issue persists if steam starts on the "store" page. As a previous user mentioned, changing the startup setting to my library eliminates the problem.

Same here - When I saw the date of the first post I was like no it's gotta be fixed.

No.

No it isn't - and I just forced an update.
Same issue for me as someone else mentioned I think it has to do with running steam on startup. At least for me. If I remove steam from starting at launch the problem goes away entirely even If I launch steam again later, no problem being on the store. The problem is when I have steam startup at launch but its still minimized and I never open it. The issue started for me after a windows update to 22h2 preview. Not sure if that is relevant though. I havent changed anything else since then though so I imagine its related.
Here's my official bug report related to this bug:

ISSUE
SteamWebHelper acquires a video wake lock when Steam is set to open at start-up and opens in the background (-silent).

Since the client opens in the background the lock is maintained until the next time the Steam Window is made visible and is either closed to the system tray by hitting "X" or minimized to the taskbar.

OS
Windows 11

STEPS
Install Steam.
Set option to start Steam when Windows starts.
Restart computer
In an elevated command prompt type: "powercfg /requests"

RESULTS
DISPLAY:
[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume5\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\cef\cef.win7x64\steamwebhelper.exe
Video Wake Lock

And system does not enter sleep or turn off monitors

EXPECTED
None.

And system is able to enter sleep or turn off monitors
That’s weird. I have Steam set to launch at startup (it gets too annoying otherwise) and my system has no trouble falling asleep like it’s supposed to (it’s asleep right now actually). I do have it locked down pretty tight to try and stave off the memory leaks, perhaps that has something to do with it…
Steam is not allowing my monitor to turn off. Kind of important since it is OLED. Sleep itself is working fine. Are there other people still affected by this issue? Store page, disabling steam on startup - did not help in my case

Have all the same, wrote to support.
Yes it's still an issue for me and it's infuriating that it's still not fixed yet.
How is it this problem still exists? I've got screen burn on 3 monitors thanks to this Stay awake lock. Thanks Steam, thanks Valve! absolute disgrace!
Steam kept my OLED monitor on the same screen for 3 days while I was on a trip with my family.

Came here to fix the same problem, cant believe its still happening!
My god, this fixed my issues. This cropped up for me at the same time i installed a new mouse so i thoguht it was related.. turns out it was steam all along somehow. Set my default page to library and now my screensaver and monitor sleep work again.. wtf
This still seems to be a problem, somehow. I just recently noticed my display wouldnt sleep. After some troubleshooting I ran the cmd powercfg /requests which pointed to steam as the only thing preventing any type of sleep.
DISPLAY:
[PROCESS] \Device\Harddiskvolume3\Program Files(x86)\Steam\bin\cef\ CF.win7x64\steamwebhelper.exe

After closing steam the display would sleep normally.

Form when this thread was originally posted a definitely have the most recent updates so I'm not sure what else to do.

This still occurs for me. I can reproduce the issue instantly by switching to store page and running
powercfg -requests
and then switching to Library and seeing the Video Wake Lock vanish. I'm on version 1694466342.

This works, but only if you actually keep it on library or any other page than the store page.
It's easy to forget, check the store, leave, and come back to see the monitor(s) are still on.

I wouldn't call this a fix, more a workaround
